Zhaomin Hou

Dr Zhaomin Hou

Zhaomin Hou was born in 1961 in Shandong Province, China. He graduated from China University of Petroleum in 1982, and completed his PhD at Kyushu University, Japan in 1989. Then, he carried out his postdoctoral research first at RIKEN (with Prof. H. Yamazaki) and then at the University of Windsor, Canada (with Prof. D. Stephan). He returned to RIKEN in 1993, where he is currently Chief Scientist and the Director of the Organometallic Chemistry Laboratory. His research interests include molecular catalysis, organolanthanide chemistry, precision polymerization, environmentally benign organic synthesis, and organic electroluminescence materials. Recent awards and honors include the JSPS Prize (2007), the Chemical Society of Japan Award for Creative Work (2007), the Mitsui Chemicals Catalysis Science Award (2007), The Chang Jiang Scholars of the Ministry of Education of China (2008), the Commendation for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan: The Prizes for Science and Technology (2008), and the Rare Earth Society of Japan Award (2009).
