Dr Pieter Bruijnincx

Pieter Bruijnincx obtained both his MSc (2002) and PhD degree in Chemistry (2007) from Utrecht University in the Netherlands (both cum laude, highest distinction). His doctoral studies were performed under the supervision of Profs. Bert Klein Gebbink, Gerard van Koten and Bert Weckhuysen and focused on the development of bio-inspired oxidation catalysts and models for non-heme iron enzymes. After completion of his PhD, he moved to the United Kingdom to undertake postdoctoral work at the University of Warwick with Prof. Peter Sadler. In 2009, he returned to Utrecht University to take up a position as Assistant Professor in the Inorganic Chemistry & Catalysis group. Pieter’s main research interests lie in the catalytic conversion of biomass and renewables for the production of bulk and fine chemicals.
