David Young

Professor David Young


David obtained his PhD under the supervision of Professor William Kitching at the University of Queensland in the area of organotin chemistry. He subsequently worked as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant with Professor Charles Stirling FRS at the University College of North Wales and then with Dr Michael Robinson, Oxford University. He has held Faculty positions at various Australian universities and since1989 he has been an academic at Griffith University. David was awarded the Royal Australian Chemical Institute’s Rennie Memorial Medal in 1991 and Organometallic medal in 2000 and made a Fellow of the RACI in 2001.  He has held Visiting Associate Professorships at the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2001/2 and 2007/8. His most recent award is an inaugural Queensland International Fellowship 2009 from the Qld. Department of Premier and Cabinet to pursue his research collaboration with Professor Andy Hor at NUS in the field of electroluminescent organometallic materials.
